Over the weekend I campaigned in Hackney with Councillors in Wick Ward.

During the course of my campaign I have been all over London – North, South, East, West – and the issues that people face are the same all over. What can Labour do to safeguard jobs? How would a Labour government improve the local environment? How would Labour improve young people’s chances of getting on the housing ladder?

As a candidate in the European elections these questions and the conversations that follow give a real opportunity to point to our record of achievement in Europe and also highlight why most people are concerned with how we can deliver in Europe rather than whether or not we should be in Europe at all – which is the question that fixates the Tories.
